The early years.

Jack began his performance career at the age of 9, singing in his first of 4 productions at the State Theatre, with The (then) Australian Opera and Victorian State Opera. A scholarship student (on drums/percussion) at Blackburn High, Jack won every award in Australia with the Blackburn Stage Band; including 1st place at Generations In Jazz - Div 1 (Jack selected for James Morrison Superband), first place at South Street and Melbourne Bands Festival, and in 1998 Jack was the second youngest ever to win the open division of Australia's Best Up & Coming Drummer Competition, after topping the state in the VCE Drumkit exams in 1997. In 1996 and 1997 Jack performed at all VCE Percussion workshops, and he was selected to perform at The VCE Excellence Concert, and the State CAT Show (which became Top Acts). Jack was accepted into the Victorian College Of The Arts and Box Hill College in 1997.

Most recently Jack was asked to join new Cirque du Soleil / Live Nation creation "NYSA" in Berlin, on drums & tuned percussion. In Australia, Jack has performed with a wide variety of artists, including; Hugh Sheridan, John Cameron Mitchell, Paulini (Idol), Prinnie Stevens (The Voice), Mig Ayesa (Rockstar INXS), Natalie Bathingswaite, Anthony Warlow, iOta, Adam Thompson (Chocolate Starfish),  Rhonda Birchmore, Jetty Road, Darren Coggan and many more. Tribute shows including Forever 80's, Bjorn Again, The Elton John Experience, and Elton Jack. National theatre tours of Hair, Grease, Moonshadows, Shout, La Cage Aux Folles and Hedwig & The Angry Inch. Corporate Bands including Chunky Jam, Louie & The Party Boyz, Spin, Grandwazoo, Relax With Max and 23 Past, as well as Jazz with artists such as Jack Pantazis, Ross Irwin, The Australian Showband and MOJO Big Band. Jack has performed at many major corporate events, including supporting Mariah Carey at Crown Palladium, supporting Sneaky Sound System at Summerfest, ICI Cricket World Cup, AFL Grand Final and more.


Teacher.

Jack runs world renowned teaching site www.icanplaydrums.com (since 2005), which has a private membership of over 107,000 drummers worldwide, 20 million website views, 5 million youtube views, and he has produced 15 DVD sets, sold nation-wide in Billy Hyde stores and online. He has also written 2 books. Jack has 3 solos on the VCE syllabus and 6 on the ANZCA syllabus. He has been featured in Drumscene magazine, Rhythm UK magazine and The Age. Jack teaches online through Skype/Zoom and has taught at many of Melbourne's top schools; including St Leonard's College, Peninsula Grammar and MacRobertson High. Jack endorses Sleishman Drums, and in 2009 Sleishman launched the Jack Bennett Signature Snare Drum worldwide, to critical acclaim.

Most recently, Jack has signed with a company in Taiwan to bring the first ever live broadcast drum lessons into mainland China, kicking off with a live promotional event streamed from Melbourne into Tianjin, to over 100 Chinese drummers, watch this space!
